About me ...
As a child, I was always drawn to creative projects and endeavors. I was hailed the “fashion police” by my family at a very young age; all of my family members asked me for advice when it came to their clothing, hair, make-up etc … I began sketching clothes and accessories when I was in high school and even dabbled in a bit of sewing. One of my favorite memories of sewing was when one of my closest friends and I made a skirt out of men’s ties when we were about 13 …
Upon graduating from high school, I began going to a local state university to pursue a degree in Liberal Studies so that I could become a teacher (a goal my dad always wanted me to achieve!) … that lasted all of one quarter! I was bored out of my mind! I knew I wanted to go to fashion design school – so I began applying and was accepted at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) ... where I majored in Fashion Design. Attending school at FIDM was both wonderful and exhausting. The program was very intense, but very worth it!!! I learned the arts of designing, sketching, pattern drafting as well as sewing.
I ended up graduating from the FIDM Los Angeles campus in mid- 2000. At that time I made a decision not to pursue a formal career in the fashion industry in LA, but began freelance designing and sewing– making costumes and accessories and much of my own clothing. I also attended school for cosmetology and worked in that industry for several years.
In early 2006 I started making a few handbags for friends and family members and decided that it was something that I wanted to do as a career. From there
Bella Bags by Marcía was born…
Bella Bags started out in my home in California … moved with me to Arizona for a year and now has a permanent home in the beautiful Berkshires of Massachusetts! While my bags are currently available online and in a few stores here in Massachusetts … stay tuned as they may end up in a store near you! I also hope to open a boutique of my own, very soon!

CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Most items can be spot cleaned with a mild detergent and warm water. All Bella Bags have been pretreated with a stain repellant and can be retreated sporadically. They may also be ironed on a low setting
(including faux suede bags).
BAG CONSTRUCTION
Personally sewn by Marcia, each Bella Bag is constructed with at minimum, light upholstery weight fabrics inside and out. Marcia does not utilize quilting material (or other thin fabrics) for any of the Bella designs.
The bags are sewn on a high quality industrial sewing machine using #69 bonded nylon thread. #69 is a heavy duty, 100% nylon, sewing thread that is designed for superior strength, stretch and recovery, as well as having excellent resistance to chemicals, bacteria, mildew, wear and abrasion. Nylon thread is designed to stand up to the weather many times better than thread made of natural fibers.
We only use thread that meets Federal specification VT-295.
*Please be advised that we only utilize organic cotton for our shoppers and
t-shirts, all other Bella Bags and accessories are made from upholstery weight fabrics.
CHANGES TO YOUR BAG
MOST bags that are pre-made may be customized to suit your individual needs. You may request to have further pockets added to the bag, or an adjustment in the length of the straps and we will let you know whether or not the request is feasible. While most bags already contain a magnetic snap closure –some are constructed without a closure; if you would like one put on your bag we are usually able to do so. Please be advised that there will be additional fees for making accompaniments to bags as they must be taken apart and additional materials are utilized. If you have any questions or concerns, please email me.
SHIPPING INFORMATION
If an order is placed by 3PM EST on a business day, bags usually ship that same or the next business day. Should there be a delay, we will contact you.
Please allow 3-4 weeks for custom bag orders.
RETURNS and OTHER INFO
If you decide that you would like to own a Bella Bag, you can rest assured that it will be unique... no two bags are exactly the same. I stand behind my product. If anything happens to your bag, aside from normal wear and tear, contact me immediately so that I can either repair or replace your bag.
My main concern is that you are completely satisfied with your bag. If you feel as though you need to return your bag, please email me and I will contact you to make things right. If your bag should need to be shipped back due to any defect, I will take care of the shipping. If you wish to exchange your bag, you will be responsible for shipping costs.
***We have made every effort to accurately display the colors of our merchandise on our site. However, the colors you see will vary depending on the settings and capabilities of your monitor, computer and web browser. Therefore, Bella Bags cannot guarantee that your monitor’s display of the merchandise is accurate.***
